Study Discipleship with Bill Hull at Oxford AUG. 14 - 18, 2011 Pembroke College Oxford, England
Study Discipleship with Bill Hull at Oxford

Walk the same corridors as J.R.R. Tolkien. Study on the same hollowed grounds that were graced by Dr. Samuel Johnson and the great preacher George Whitfield. The Oxford experience is like no other, from the gala dinners to walking through the cobblestone streets once trod by C.S. Lewis, John Wesley, Winston Churchill, and the great thinkers and writers of all time. Enjoy a pint at the Eagle and the Child in the same booth where Lewis and Tolkien read the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings to their Inklings group. But most of all, feast on all the history and think with Bill and his teaching guests about your own discipleship and how all our lives can be an offering to our Lord. By living on campus and sharing our meals together, a sense of community will enable valuable interaction that includes opportunities to visit historic sites.

Bill Hull

BILL HULL

Bill Hull is a writer and pastor whose "pulpit" is now itinerant and global. He is calling the church to CHOOSE THE LIFE to which Jesus called every disciple. Bill has not only written many books on this subject, he spent twenty years working it out as a pastor. The core of Bill’s early writing was Jesus Christ Disciple Maker, The Disciple Making Pastor and the Disciple Making Church. These works made the case for Jesus as the prime example of a disciple maker, and that discipleship should be the core of every pastor and church’s work. Bill’s later writing has been centered on personal transformation and how that forms the basis for change in both church and society. Choose The Life, and his newest work CHRISTLIKE, are manifestos to the critical nature of living our ordinary lives as though Jesus were living them. Bill is a graduate of Oral Roberts University 1969 and Talbot School of Theology 1979.
John

JOHN EARWICKER

John Earwicker is the Executive Director of Medic Assist International, a UK mission dedicated to enabling indigenous Christians of vision and integrity to deliver healthcare to needy and oppressed people in some of the poorest parts of the world, often where Christians are persecuted for their faith. For many years, John served as Director of Church Life for the United Kingdom’s prestigious evangelical organization, The Evangelical Alliance. John is known in his home country as a gifted and passionate teacher and leader. One of John’s passions is the history of art which has taken him over the years to many of the great museums of Europe and the USA. His presentations are not only entertaining, but eye opening with respect to how Christianity was taught and kept alive through the arts.
PAUL

PAUL MASCARELLA

Paul Mascarella is a philosopher, a teacher, and pastor. His degrees are in Philosophy and Theology, he is greatly admired as a teacher-pastor. Studying the life and writings of Lewis is one of Paul's great passions. His teaching and depth of understanding about Lewis has helped many come to terms with what it means to be "little Christs." Paul is co-author with Bill Hull of the Experience The Life discipleship curriculum being used around the world.

DINING
Built in 1848 and set at the north end of Chapel Quad, the Dining Hall is a fine example of early Victorian Gothic architecture. It boasts a small cupola and a roof built to the medieval hammer beam design. Here, you dine under the lantern and timbered roof, with fine stained glass windows, surrounded by portraits of Pembrokian benefactors and Masters of the Past.

LODGING
For the Oxford University experience we recommend staying on campus. Many of our rooms have been refurbished to a high standard in the last few years, whilst keeping their original character. Each room is subtly transformed from student to guest accommodation. Each room has 2 Twin beds and a private bathroom.

MEETINGS
Completed in 1989 the Rockefeller Room is the College’s largest seminar room. Seating can be configured in several styles and the room is ideal for groups of up to 100. Disabled access is available.
